What it is

What the crew does on site.

Audio tactile line marking (ATLM) is a specialised road marking treatment designed to alert drivers when they leave their lane. The markings are installed as raised profile lines that create noise and vibration when a vehicle drives over them, giving drivers an immediate warning before they leave the roadway or enter an opposing traffic lane.

Our crews install edge line ATLM, centre line ATLM and wide centre line treatments on highways, rural roads and high-speed road networks where driver fatigue and lane departure crashes are a concern.

Why Southern Highway

Family-run since the backyard. Built for network scale.

Two generations of the same family, out of Geelong and Horsham, with the plant and the people to hold a contract that runs the length of Western Victoria.

Meet the crew
  • High speed Proven on those networks Proven experience on high-speed road networks, with crews trained in ATLM installation.
  • Night Tight closure windows Capability to work within tight road closure windows and night shift environments.
  • Combined ATLM with the rest Ability to combine ATLM with conventional line marking and RRPM installation on the same job.
  • One Contract, not several Multiple road safety treatments under one contract streamline projects and reduce contractor coordination.

Asked on every quote call

The questions before the question.

What project managers and council engineers ask us before they ask for a price.

Ask us something else
What does audio tactile line marking actually do?

Raised profile lines create noise and vibration when a vehicle drives over them. If a fatigued, distracted or inattentive driver drifts from their lane, the markings give an immediate warning before they leave the roadway or enter an opposing lane.

Where is ATLM used?

On edge lines, centre lines and wide centre line treatments across highways, rural roads and high-speed road networks where driver fatigue and lane departure crashes are a concern.

Can you install ATLM straight after a reseal?

Yes. We install ATLM after spray sealing for DTP Sprayline and Fulton Hogan resealing programs across Barwon South West.

Can you work nights or in a short closure window?

Yes. We work within tight road closure windows and night shift environments, with in-house traffic management.
